Enclosure Radiation Femap

Enclosure Radiation Femap

(OP)
Hi,

I am using Femap 10.3 to model a transient heat transfer analysis of a 20 mts bar entering and exiting an oven. I am trying to use enclosure radiation to simulate the radiative heat transfer occuring within the oven. I would like to take advantage of the symmetric characteristics of the bar and oven but I am not sure if femap can allow symmetry conditions for enclosure radiation analysis. If so, could any tips be given on how to apply them? The oven is square and the bar presents half-symmetry along axial mid-plane.

Any ideas on how to simulate the dynamic characteristic of the problem, mainly the fact that the bar is not all the time in the oven but it goes in and out. I was thinking of using temperature time functions coupled with radiation enclosure. Suggestions on this matter are welcomed.

Thanks,
