Hello community,

I am trying to simulate a simple orthogonal cutting and I am getting the extremely distorted
illustration when the job is completed.
At first the simulation is as following:

Then

And finally the distorted illustration:

My deformation scale factor is by default set to the option Auto-compute (1).
Should I attempt to change it?

RE: Orhtogonal Cutting-Extreme deformation

Hello,
Did you change the Field Output (when posting) so that elements with status (status variable tab) less than 0 is hidden?

The variable STATUS can be requested as a field output.

STATUS
Status of the element (the status of an element is 1.0 if the element is active, 0.0 if the element is not).

.fil: no .odb Field: yes .odb History: yes

RE: Orhtogonal Cutting-Extreme deformation

Hi,

I have gotten results like this before when I have failed to adequately constrain certain DOFs. I mention this as it looks like the cutting tool has rotated about your x-axis.

Good luck,
Dave

Thank you very much for your answers.

StefCon, the STATUS variable at Field Output Request did the trick.Thank you very much for your on the spot comment.

Dave442, the cutting tool has rotated about the x-axis but I think this is a problem with my materials and my tool's speed amplitude.

If I have any further issues I will re-post.

Good luck.
