Structural Analysis of a tripper car on a shiftable conveyer

(OP)
Hello,
I am involved in a structural analysis of a tripper-car of a conveyer system. Primarily the struytural stability of this system to be checked during installation and operation conditions.
Since i have no experiance in this kind of application, i would like to get your suggestion and ideas to give me some start up infrmation. Can you please share with your experiences regading this structural system. As example which loading conditions and combinations should be more critically analysed? If you can suggest me any example calcuations and reading regarding this would be really helpful
Thanks
Vishnu

RE: Structural Analysis of a tripper car on a shiftable conveyer

vishkan,

If you have not done this before, some senior engineer should be supervising you and telling you how to approach the task. If this thing is big, it is dangerous. This is not the kind of engineering you want to learn by trial and error.

In any case, you have provided us not nearly enough information to provide advice, or make any kind of judgement.

RE: Structural Analysis of a tripper car on a shiftable conveyer

You could think about such notions as: what happens to the tripper car and structure if the tripper head pulley stops rotating and the tripper moves forward at belt speed due to the momentum of the belt and material; or what happens if the tripper discharge chute plugs and fills completely; or what the wheel forces are during sudden conveyor stops.

You will probably find a crowd with more conveyor knowledge at:

They will kindly offer to help, or perhaps kindly offer consulting services.

Hello Drawoh,Thanks for your advice, yes of course i will get adivices from our senior Engineer later. I have to do some pre-study how to approach this problem and have to explain him when he comes back from holiday smile. I am still follwing the German standard DIN 22261-2 as specified by the client. This guides me to consider the analysis situationas and loading conditions. This Tripper car moves on Rail woth around a operational load of 190 ton for shiftable conveyer system. Though i have expected here from experts their practical experiances regading this analysis. This would help to my pre-study before i discuss with my senior.

Hello dvd, Thanks for your valuable suggessions, it has already help for my preparations. I will also try to use that links

Vishnu

More general standards are FEM II Doc.s 2.131 / 2.132 and ISO 5049.
If you have to follow DIN 22261 you have a very detailed if complex base code. However, this kind of job is definitely specialist area and already the choice of the base code calls for a rather demanding customer.
Pls. check: required expert input & support on a very wide level vs. an answer to a specific question ...

R.
