Problem with ABAQUS Clay Plasticity and field variable.

Problem with ABAQUS Clay Plasticity and field variable.

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I am trying to model the consolidation settlements resulting from an embankment construction in ABAQUS CAE. That is a 3d model which include two (2) main soil layers. A 20 meters of soft clay lying on dense gravel. I am trying to refine the model by dividing the soft clay deposit in 2 meters sub-layers.

My question is: Instead of creating different material for each sub-layers would it be possible to specified the consolidation pressure (yield size) by a function of depth? I tried to find how to do that using field variable, but I really can't make it work.

Thanks,
