Eccentric Beam
Eccentric Beam
(OP)
Hi Good Day Everyone,
Please refer to picture below. My question is how can I find out exact the percentage of the reaction & moment from B2 to Column C1 & Perimeter Beam B1. Or just ignore column for B2 design & simply apply point load P to B1 and then the load goes from B1 to C1?
Thanks :)

RE: Eccentric Beam
I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
RE: Eccentric Beam
In this case, remember and carefully detail your hanging shear ligs for the intersection of B2/B1.
RE: Eccentric Beam
If a few rebars can fit in, Can I transfer moment through those rebars? Can I also transfer a fraction of the load in proportion to the width through that orange color interface.
I will use your advice load goes through B1. I am just trying to figure out the actual behavior. :)
RE: Eccentric Beam
Sure, the load path through the column would be the stiffer of the two load paths.
