Cannot save part to a new name because the of part family template

Cannot save part to a new name because the of part family template

Cannot save part to a new name because the of part family template

(OP)

I get the above save error when I am trying to reuse a part name that is no longer in use. I deleted the file from my drive and sometimes I cannot reuse a file name because the part "is a part family template of member" of a assembly file.

Anyone know how to fix this? I don't know how to get to where I need to be to remove this.

RE: Cannot save part to a new name because the of part family template

Hi,
One workaround may be to open this part(part family member). Goto File /Export/Part ....Select all the features in your part (which is a part family member) and export it to a new part while retaining all parameters. Once done just check if the new part is exactly the same as original and behaves in the same way. Once you are satisfied. Delete the old one and use the new exported part (which will not have any trace of a part family).
Now you can give the desired name to it.
I hope i was able to comprehend the issue properly.
Best Regards
Kapil
