Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

(OP)
I've been growing my hair out for the past year for my upcoming halloween costume. Now it's time to actually build the Centaur body. I've found a video of what I'm trying to build but am unsure to best way to go about doing so.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u1IbFNP7Ek

Once I build this I'll then be working with a seamstress to sew on fur and what not.

Do you have any ideas on the best way to execute this, materials involved, etc? It's a bit difficult for me to tell from the video. Any help or guidance would be really appreciated.

Best,
Joe

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

If it's only meant to last a night, I'd go for a more lightweight frame and use chicken wire for structure.

As a goof, I'd include a bag of Hershey's kisses that you could drop here and there from the back end.

Thanks for the advice - Any insight into what the frame itself should be build from?

If I was contemplating a centaur costume, the natural thing would just be to act like the horse's ass. That'd save me building one.

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

But how can people tell the difference between you being a horse's ass and a mule's ass... or maybe you're just a complete jackass. Context, Mike, context.

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

I'd use small PVC, bend it with a heat gun. I'd also have already started by now, so this might not help much.

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

I used PVC pipe I had laying around for a skeleton that I use every year. He gets dressed up to fit our theme for the year.
But yes. You ought to have something started by now, otherwise you might not have 1/2 a centaur by Halloween...

Thanks for the advice everyone - yes started work a few weeks back - it's pretty much complete. I'll be sure to post the finish product up here. Thanks again!

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

So how'd it come out?

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

But yes... Where are the final pics of the costume?
Maybe one of you ponied up to the bar?
One walking thru the neigh.... bors yard?

Hay... These jokes are getting a little long in the face...

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

Look guys, you can keep requesting pics until you're horse, but if he says nay, he says nay. You canter just trot in here and demand he pony up pictures he doesn't want to give.

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

I agree, it's time to put a halter this nonsense.

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

I'm sorry, but moderator, can we put these three in time-out?

edit: make that 4, put btrueblood in the corner alsobigsmile

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

I knew some people would bridle at the humor, or lack of it.

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

Halloween has come and gone. Any pictures?

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

Stop! I'm laughing so hard, I'm going to foal down!

RE: Building A Centaur Costume For Halloween

Do any of the old timers remember the early days of NASA and the search for a heavier test payload before sending men up in space?
Rumours kept surfacing that there was a plan afoot to send two cows up in orbit.
It was rumoured that Nasa intended to milk the publicity angle for all it was worth.
It was to be billed as the "Herd shot Round the World"
A senior NASA manager was eventually questioned by a reporter and his reply put an end to the rumours;
"Udderly ridiculous!"

Pretty sure I saw in the forum rules that if you don't follow up, the punishment is a series of bad puns.

Sorry to reign on your parade, but you can always put a halter to these by turning email notifications off.
You're not going to whinny and popularity contest by complaining here.
