Wave Geometry Linker, copy body without material
Wave Geometry Linker, copy body without material
(OP)
Hello
When I copy several body (Wave Geometry Linker) from one file to other, NX also add material to parts.
I subtract body and have one body with material, but when I go to Assign Material I have two active materials.
Is it possible to disable material during link body?
Regards
Marcin

RE: Wave Geometry Linker, copy body without material
Can you please provide some dummy assembly or a short video ?
I am not able to replicate it on my machine. Also do let us know the NX version you are using.
Best Regards

one or two materials ?
Correct material ?
If you do an Information Object and then select the solid body ( Not the feature) , what does NX report ? One or two materials ? Correct material ?
Does it matter that there are two materials that are "ticked" in the assign material dialog ?
It seems to me that the target body material continues to rule the resulting body, exactly as expected.

You can always contact GTAC and ask them to open an ER (Enhancement Request) to this effect.

I will contact with GTAC and create ER.

RE: Wave Geometry Linker, copy body without material
1. You have a plastic part, which will be used to design mould, and You would like to know how much it weight. So the only option is to add material to it, for example PA (Polyamide).
2. You have core which have some material for example 1.2343
3. You are link plastic part to core and trim body, so You will receive first message with material selection. After that You will trim body / subtract etc. to receive core.
4. Then You create the inserts, which has own materials, for example Ampcoloy, when You link them to the core You will get second message.
5. Next You will put some ejectors, screws etc.
So the whole list with materials is growing up, and every step You receive the message with material selection.
I think there should be an option in wave geometry linker, to copy / not copy material the same like with threads.

A work-around (I'm not suggesting this is the long term solution) is to NOT assign a material to the plastic part, only assign the corresponding density to the body representing the part. This can be done with Menu -> Edit -> feature -> solid density... After assigning the density, the measured weight will be correct, but it won't technically have a material assigned to it.
