ASME S stamp

(OP)
Hello everyone
Does the s Stamp covers the PP stamp ? A customer asked our organisation to fabricate a piping job with the PP stamp but we dont have it. Instead we hold a valid S stamp, are we covered ? I am tempted to pretend after reading the section I that we are. Thanks for your help.

RE: ASME S stamp

No. The S stamp and PP stamp are from two different standards committee. They are not interchangable.

RE: ASME S stamp

You can fabricate the same with the S stamp and stamp it accordingly.

RE: ASME S stamp

"S" Certificate Holders fabricate and assemble boiler external piping all the time.

PG-109 permits stamping of boiler external piping with the Certification Mark and either the "S" or "PP" Designator.

RE: ASME S stamp

S stamp holder can do S or PP fabrication (must check scope of their ASME certificate of authorization and quality manual), but a PP stamp holder cannot do everything an S stamp holder can. PP can only do boiler external piping / S stamp holder can do boilers, parts, boiler external piping.
