Unconstrained Feature versus Sketch

Unconstrained Feature versus Sketch

Unconstrained Feature versus Sketch

(OP)
Is there a way to display in the part navigator the status of say an extrude, revolve, or any feature that contains a sketch the constraint status of that feature?
If you have an external sketch you get a note if it's constrained or lacking constraint, but if the sketch is internal to a feature you don't get any information without editing the feature.
Is there a way to get that information displayed similar to an external sketch?

Using NX 9

Thanks!

RE: Unconstrained Feature versus Sketch

Hi,
Sorry i have not visited the sketches functionality for a while so may be my comments are not justified.
How if you make the internal sketch external using right click on the feature? I don't have access to my laptop so cannot verify it.
Best Regards
Kapil

I could remove all the sketches and make them external, but that would be a tremendous amount of work and negate some reasons for them being internal.
I was hoping to have a visual indication, so that model reviews are easier to perform.

Where do you find the constraint status of external sketches displayed? Are you running a checkmate test or something else?

It's a column in the part navigator you can turn on.

RE: Unconstrained Feature versus Sketch

I'm not aware of any scheme, other than perhaps Checkmate, that might be able to give you that sort of information.

That being said, this does sound like a reasonable request so I would ask that you contact GTAC and have them open an ER (Enhancement Request) for something like this.

Ok will do. Thanks!

Meanwhile, there might be someone with a journal that can perform the task of automatically making sketches external, and the internal again.
Maybe cowski has something?

That would probably be more effort than it's worth.
I'm able to check the sketches via CheckMate, as John Baker and cowski mentioned, and using the "Sketch Fully Constrained?" rule and setting the options to also check internal sketches.
I was just hoping there was a quick visual show of that information in the Part Navigator since it existed for External sketches. I submitted an Enhancement request to Siemens and it's currently open for review.
Thanks all!
