DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

(OP)
Hello
My question is , if do you advice me a Guide or handbook for the desgin of the lug support?
thanks in advance

RE: DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

For design of the eye part itself, I use ASME BTH, section dealing with pins in holes.
For stresses in the shell, I use Bednar's handbook.

Thanks JStephen

And do you know some tables or reference drawings of Standards Lug dimensions ?

RE: DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

See PIP Process Industry Practice VEFV1100

RE: DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

I think Megyesy may have some lug details for smaller vessels. You can also buy ready-made lugs.

RE: DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

If you are able to use DIN you might be interested in DIN 28083 for support lugs, DIN 28084 for support rings, and DIN 28086 and 28087 for lifting lugs.

I do not know what your design code is.

Thank you
I am using ASME BPVC for the vessel design.
I am going to see your references.

Also adviced me that book " PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN MANUAL by Dennis Moss 3°edition"

Does someone have any experience with that book in the support design ?

RE: DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

I just noticed I mis-read the question- I was thinking "Lifting Lugs", not "Lug Supports". But I think both Bednar and Megyesy have some information on those.

RE: DESIGN OF LUGS SUPPORTS

Are you thinking "Horizontal" or "Vertical" pressure vessel?

Ok, Thanks Jstephen

It is a vertical Pressure Vessel Diameter=10ft , Height= 20ft, Presure=15 psi, r6155
