Stub Wall Construction

Stub Wall Construction

Stub Wall Construction

(OP)
I'm currently working on a villa project. We're using strip footing (cast-in-situ) and precast for the superstructure. Now, the consultant wants us to provide a separate method statement for stab wall. I just want to know what is this stab wall he's referring to? I tried to search it online but it didn't helped me a lot.

RE: Stub Wall Construction

I assume you mean a wood stub wall, pony wall, stem wall... whatever... using standard wood stud wall framing. Is that correct?

RE: Stub Wall Construction

therelator;

Do you mean concrete foundation wall that has no outsets at the bottom?

We normally cast in place an 8" thick wall with a 24" wide footing under it so the footing is offset out from the foundation wall by 8" on both sides. Then the footing is either 8" thick of 12" thick, depending on the soil conditions. Both foundation wall and footing are reinforced depending on the soil conditions.

In certain cases we used a 12" thick trench wall with reinforcement. Is that what you mean by a stab wall? You are going to need to provide more information and better explanation of your terms.

A sketch with dimension and loads would be very helpful.

Jim.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not really sure with terminologies but here's a snapshot of the foundation.

RE: Stub Wall Construction

I would ask your client what he means. I am confused here. Does he want CMU in lieu of the precast panel?

I'm not sure but maybe the one I encircled is the stab wall? And we're not using CMU in lieu of the precast panel.

RE: Stub Wall Construction

I think you have it, but the word is probably "stub" as in your title, not "stab".
