Temperature reinforcement for block

Temperature reinforcement for block

Temperature reinforcement for block

(OP)
I have a block foundation. what is the temperature reinforcement for the block. If i consider 0.002 times gross section area,
it would be very high. The temperature
reinforcement given in code is for slab only, what is the temperature reinforcement is it is
Block.

RE: Temperature reinforcement for block

I assume this is some sort of equipment base. In cases like this I’ve normally considered a perimeter (maybe about 6-12" of width) as the effective area I am trying to reinforce. The rest is sort of infill. That of course can change if anchors are coming down outside my perimeter (and especially if they are delivering unbalanced forces). The infill is just to make it easier to form (i.e. a block vs. 4 walls).

RE: Temperature reinforcement for block

Forget "temperature" reinforcement. Provide the amount required flexurally. Why would you consider 0.002 Ag to be "very high"? Seems quite low to me.
