split faces and swept mesh

split faces and swept mesh

(OP)
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with what (I think) is a basic meshing question. I have a part that I've split in spaceclaim to take advantage of symmetry/ create a sweepable multibody part using the share topology feature. I'm trying to control the swept mesh and seem to be having some trouble.

I am trying to split a source face using either virtual topology or split face in spaceclaim but it is causing the part mesher to fail to sweep and instead makes a tet mesh. Do I need to add the same virtual topology to the target face as well? I know the topology of the target and source face need to be identical (same number of sides/ vertices) but does this apply to virtual topology as well? Shouldn't the mesher be able to figure that out?

Thanks for any assistance.

Jason

can you post a picture of it?
