Cable sizing with ETAP - SD starter

Cable sizing with ETAP - SD starter

Hi everyone,

I am trying to model in the ETAP a SD starter and size the supply cables of a motor (6 + PE). Do you have a good idea ?

Thanks

RE: Cable sizing with ETAP - SD starter

ETAP is not really a design tool. Sizing the conductors is something typically governed by local jurisdictional code requirements. As a generalized rule though, the 6 conductors are often allowed to be sized at 58% of the motor FLA.

Hi jraef, thanks for your reply but what do you mean "ETAP is not really a design tool" ?
In ETAP you can find a complete section of cable sizing.

RE: Cable sizing with ETAP - SD starter

Maybe so. But ETAP is really a modeling tool. Designing a system is a combination of modeling plus adjusting to site conditions and regulatory constraints. Computer programs are not good at that, yet.

When they are, we are all in trouble...flush2

Jraef I agree with you but you can realize that I am trying to find how I can model this stuff in the ETAP.
