Design criteria

I wonder to know the initial concept of Design Criteria and detail of most recent version of Applicable Elevated water tank AWWA 100-5,ACI 318

RE: Design criteria

What exactly do you want to know?

RE: Design criteria

I am required to design circular Hollow concrete column for Elevated water tank( Column shaft which is designed to store water at the top about 20m level from the ground). But what I am relay want is that the minimum section diameter of the opening and the thickness of the concrete the other design parameter.

RE: Design criteria

AWWA D100 covers all-steel tanks and elevated tanks. There is an AWWA D107 that covers composite tanks with concrete pedestal supporting a steel tank.

ACI 318 is concrete for buildings, which is typically used to the extent applicable for tank foundations. There is another standard, ACI-350, used for water-containing concrete structures.

If you are not in the US, there may be other standards that govern the work.

I assume the AWWA D107 would give a minimum pedestal thickness, and that might be limited also by forming considerations and rebar placement considerations. Otherwise, thickness and diameter would come from your analysis.
