E60 v.s. E70 for repair of old steel projects

E60 v.s. E70 for repair of old steel projects

E60 v.s. E70 for repair of old steel projects

(OP)

May I ask if you know that using electrode E60 is better than E70?
It is a repair of steel connection, attaching a new steel gusset plate to and old angle section (L 3 x 2 1/2 x1/4. Structure was build 1953.

Which E60 or E70 sounds better to use?

Thank you

RE: E60 v.s. E70 for repair of old steel projects

I have been told that e60 welds at lower temperatures and can have less negative effect to base material, i was told this when repairing some 50+ year old bar joists. But I cannot vouch for this information only sharing what i have been told.
