Question about digital image format

Question about digital image format

Question about digital image format

(OP)
Hi everyone, in my company we're approaching a project to manage, on a web system, some digital images and we're trying to identify which image formats should be managed by this new module.
Up to now we are considering DICOM images, but we're wondering if there are other popular formats that should be manage.
Can someone suggest us one or more alternative image formats that could be interesting to manage in our system.
Thank you in advance for your precious feedback.
Best regards
Fabrizio

RE: Question about digital image format

Shouldn't you mention what image content you're trying to manage? Are you managing only medical images? Otherwise, why not JPG, PNG, TIFF, GIF, etc., or formats described herein: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC394892... or http://www.dclunie.com/medical-image-faq/html/ or http://www.nf.mpg.de/vinci3/doc/image-formats.html ?

Thank you for your reply IRStuff, yes we're focusing on medical images, we'll manage dcm files, do you think we should support some other formats? We're starting to analyze in deep the requirements so we'd like to have a list of several popular formats for medical images.
Thank you again for your precious feedback.

RE: Question about digital image format

Isn't this a question you should ask your customers? Seems to me that asking random strangers on the web is counterproductive; we don't even know what country you are in or what medical specialties this product addresses.
