NX 8.5 closing part suppress part in assembly
NX 8.5 closing part suppress part in assembly
(OP)
Hi
I'm new to NX, I have previously used Inventor and SolidWorks.
When I'm working in a part and closing it, the part is automatically suppressed in the assembly. I find this quite odd. Is this normal behavior or can I change the settings to just close the part and not suppress the part? I'm using NX 8.5.

RE: NX 8.5 closing part suppress part in assembly
NX is a bit confusing because while the part navigator and assembly navigator look very similar, the check boxes have different meanings. In the part navigator, when the check box is cleared, the feature is suppressed. In the assembly navigator, a cleared check box means the component is not loaded. A "suppressed" component will have a dashed, clear check box and the normally yellow 'cube' icon will turn blue (see below).
Similar to an unloaded component, a suppressed component will not be visible in the assembly. However, a suppressed component's geometry may still be loaded in memory. Suppressing components can be handy when you have multiple assembly configurations (called arrangements in NX); you can easily switch between configurations and the display will update accordingly without the need to load/unload component data.
