Catia style "component" in NX?

Catia style "component" in NX?

Catia style "component" in NX?

(OP)
Hi,

Catia had a very useful function that let you store sub-parts in the same file as the parent part, they were called 'components' as opposed to 'products'. This allowed you to add some hierarchy to an assembly without introducing extra files. Is there a way to do this in NX?

This link might explain it better than I have:

Thanks,

RE: Catia style "component" in NX?

This sounds like something that you could do in Teamcenter. Also, NX as the concept of a non-geometric Component. Have you looked at either of these?

Thanks John. Non-geometric components isn't quite what I was after because they will be used to hold components. I haven't looked at Teamcenter, but part of what I had in mind was to minimise trips to Teamcenter!

The closest I have found is 'component groups' but these sit outside of the assembly structure rather than being integral to it. Any other ideas?

I'm not all that familiar with the Catia function you're describing. Perhaps someone else with more Catia experience and who also knows how to use NX could provide some ideas.
