Dear experts,
I have wonder : in Spot RT, Follow API 650, when have 1 film RT REJ, how many additional join was choose for RT penalty, Someone said only need 1 add joint if Defect near 75 or less one edge film if more than 75 don't need. Some one could explain more para 8.1.6 Determination of Limits of Defective Welding Api 650, my understand is need take 2 addition join if defect more than 75mm from edge film,
Iam appreciate your help,
Thanks

RE: Penalty for Reject joint.
If the defect continues off the end of the film (or is within 75 mm of the end of the film) then an additional tracer shot is required.
If the defect continues off the other end of the film (or is within 75 mm of the end of the film) then an additional tracer shot is required at that side also.
If the defect is central on the film and there is a minimum of 75 mm of acceptable weld either side then no tracer shots are required.
Cheers,
DD
RE: Penalty for Reject joint.
I just wonder a statement in API 650
8.1.6 Determination of Limits of Defective Welding
When a section of weld is shown by a radiograph to be unacceptable under the provisions of 8.1.5 or the limits of the deficient welding are not defined by the radiograph, two spots adjacent to the section shall be examined by radiography; however, if the original radiograph shows at least 75 mm (3 in.) of acceptable weld between the defect and any one edge of the film, an additional radiograph need not be taken of the weld on that side of the defect.
Could you explain more about that.
RE: Penalty for Reject joint.
If your defect runs the full length of the film you need a "tracer" shot at each end of the initial shot to determine the extent of the defect,
Cheers,
