Rotational DOF (UR) not avaialble in ODB file

(OP)
Hello all,

I am doing one 3D analysis with 5 time steps. For each time step, I have specified U,UR,UT variables in Field Output Request. But the odb file contains results for U & UT only. No data for UR variables is available in the output. So can somebody please suggest where am I going wrong in outputting UR variables?
Thank you in advance,

Nik

RE: Rotational DOF (UR) not avaialble in ODB file

Does your element support UR dof?

RE: Rotational DOF (UR) not avaialble in ODB file

Likely it is because solid element's don't have rotational DOFs. You could skin the solid with shell elements which have rotational DOFs. If you give the skin arbitrarily thin or flimsy material properties it won't affect the results. Alternatively you could tie a reference point and track it's rotations.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
