Snow Drift On Adjacent Varying Height Parapet Walls

Snow Drift On Adjacent Varying Height Parapet Walls

(OP)
I have a situation that I haven't run into before and can't seem to find any literature on. Is anyone aware of any guidance that might exist in the design of snow drifts on adjacent parapet walls that vary in height? What I have is an existing parapet wall that is being extended by 32" for a little more than half its length. We are reinforcing the roof framing at the parapet extension areas to account for the increased drift load. The existing roof is adequate for the existing parapet drift load. What I can't figure out it what is the drift loading at the location where the parapet extension ends. Does the larger drift still exist for some distance beyond the extension or is it the case that the smaller drift or the existing parapet actually extends into the extension space due to wind driven snow?

I appreciate any thoughts anyone has on this.

Here's a couple of options I think would work (sorry they are so light):

Thanks for the response JAE,

Is the solution you proposed a sort of engineering judgment or can it be found in literature or reference material?

RE: Snow Drift On Adjacent Varying Height Parapet Walls

Just engineering judgement and years spent playing in the snow.
