fire damper / Volume control damper

fire damper / Volume control damper

fire damper / Volume control damper

(OP)
I come cross damper schedule (design by others). They are mention minimum flow rate and maximum flow rate, min velocity, max velocity, and static pressure drop. i.e AHU supply flow is 4695 l/s. AHU Machine – VAV type , Air distribution by using Variable air volume box . Fire Damper schedule. Min / Max flow – 2200 / 5850 L/s. free area – 0.732 sq meter, min/max velocity – 3/8 meter/sec. pressure drop – min/max – 2/11 Pa. resistance coefficient – 0.29. Size – B X H X L – 1100 x 800 x 575.
I am using formula as Q= AV to find the free area. My problem is how I will verify these data for fire damper as well as volume control damper

RE: fire damper / Volume control damper

You get that information from the damper manufacturer.

RE: fire damper / Volume control damper

Can you help me to understand what does mean fire damper minimum flow or maximum flow?
also what is the relation between a fire damper and volume control damper.?

A fire damper is a mechanical shut off device, which is either open or closed. it is not intended to regulate flow.
The open area should be sized to the duct it is fitted in. Use QVA formulas to find the respective area. Sometimes you cannot find an exact size for the duct you are working with, then it is up to you to determine whether you need to go oversize, or if a little choking is acceptable. That is where the Max Min conditions are applicable.
A volume control damper is used to regulate the flow in the duct, to compensate for differing conditions, or miscalculations of the original duct size.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.
