Is there a Machinery Library available for NX10?

Is there a Machinery Library available for NX10?

Is there a Machinery Library available for NX10?

(OP)
I see lots of docs that show how to download off the GTAC website, but they are old. I login and go to the following path:

Home\Training & Support\GTAC\Siemens PLM Download Server\unigraphics

In there I don't see any entry for Machinery library...see attachment for screenshot of the directory.

Help! By the way, I've been using NX since release 4.0, but have never used a library for standard components, but want to set one up now. The type of library I'm interested in is standard fasteners etc.

Thanks,

Wade

Is there a way to update an 8.5 library?

RE: Is there a Machinery Library available for NX10?

Hi Anthony,

Can I somehow import or transfer my existing NX8.5 reuse library to NX10?

Thanks

John

RE: Is there a Machinery Library available for NX10?

I set up the machinery library when I was running NX 8.5; when I installed NX 9, I pointed it to the existing library. I didn't have to re-install or update the library in any way.

The only issue is that if you were to use a part family member that had already been created during the use of an older version of NX that part file would still be saved in that older version on disk. Normally that's not an issue unless the original model was created prior to say NX 8.0, as they may not appear correctly in hidden line views when creating Assembly Drawings if you've chosen to use the new lightweight drawing views introduced in NX 8.5.

I've got another issue now. The library works fine for me. I installed it on a common network drive. Another user did the same thing and now they have the library available. But, when they load an assembly I made with some library fasteners, they don't show up in the browser. The place holders are there though. Any ideas why?

Are you running NX under Teamcenter or not? If you're not using Teamcenter then check you Assembly Load Options to make sure that your list of Search Folders includes the common location for the libraries.

I'm not running under Team Center. I always have the assembly load option set to "As saved"

RE: Is there a Machinery Library available for NX10?

Be careful as there can be issues with remote servers not using permanent path names. I don't recall how to avoid this but I do know that people have run into this issue before and there are ways to mitigate the problem.

The problem will most likely be that when you added the parts to your assembly, they would be saved in the folder specified in customer defaults.
On my system, the OOTB setting is saved in a local folder (see image).
In your case, that means (unless you changed it), the folder you saved to is not available to the other user.
Specify a common folder accessible for all users in the customer defaults, that way in future it will work.

To fix what you've done, move the reusable parts to the common folder, change your load options to search folders and add that folder in the search.
Save the assembly and you can the use As Saved in future to load.
