Pipeline life extension and requalification

Pipeline life extension and requalification

Pipeline life extension and requalification

(OP)
As you know, in case we need to extend one pipeline operating life beyond its design life , it's necessary to go thru the life extension process described into standard ISO 12747.
What if we need to change the pipeline operating condition (e.g. fluid, pressure, flowrate) without exceeding the design life? Can we use the same standard or not?

RE: Pipeline life extension and requalification

I'm not personally familiar with ISO, but for interstate pipelines or intrastate pipelines changing my the MAOP (maximum allowable operating pressure) would fall under the uprating procedures of the Federal codes. Interstate would be handled by PHMSA while intrastate is primarily handled at the state level. I assume ISO is similar
