Apply load on a specific surface Solidworks - Catia
Apply load on a specific surface Solidworks - Catia
(OP)
Hello there,
I want to apply a load on a specific surface - let's say on a portion of the overall surface to make it clearer.
Using other words, I don't want to load an entire surface but on a portion of this surface.
The methodology I did was to start a sketch on a surface, then split it but still keeping both surfaces.
Unfortunately, when I want to put the load, I can't select the small surface and th`is is what I want to do.
I know that my request can be thought stupid but I need help from you guys.
I hope hearing from you soon

I would prefer using Solidworks but if you know how to do it on Catia, feel free to tell me

For solids the work flows are similar. I usually partition the geometry into different solids to aide in meshing once in Abaqus or your favorite FEA package. Create sketch, extrude sketch as a surface, split solid. In SolidWorks you can retain each side and in Catia one side is consumed. So for Catia there is an extra step of creating 2 bodies and retaining opposite sides.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
