Temperature Correcting Cable Tests
Temperature Correcting Cable Tests
(OP)
I'm looking for any information on temperature correcting insulation resistance and hipot values for low- and medium-voltage cable.
I can find general references to correcting things to 15°C but very little in the way of correction tables or published insulation coefficients, so I'm not sure how to proceed.
Nothing in IEEE 400 or 400.1, either. Is this just not an industry practice for some reason? Thanks.

RE: Temperature Correcting Cable Tests
I thought that I had an operator manual but I can not find it. I am sure the temperature correction charts are in the manuals. What voltage level and manufacture and model of the tester are you using, and cables being tested.
I will get back to hopefully this evening.

For medium voltage cables see:
MEDIUM-VOLTAGE POWER CABLES - UL 1072/1995 Table 59.1
Multiplying factor Ma for adjusting insulation resistance to 60.0oF (15.6°C)
For low voltage see:
UL-1581 Table 919.1
THERMOSET-INSULATED WIRES AND CABLES - UL 44
