Thanks for the insight - I have been trying all morning to sort a kinematic problem only to realize that most of it was operator error!

RE: Unknow Catia icon

icon belong to flexible assembly

The icon also appears when you have problems within the kinematics workbench as in my case. To be honest I have forgotten the exact details of the issue other than it was a code 23 operator error that caused me conciderable grief at the timesmile

RE: Unknow Catia icon

I've seen many problems in kinematics, but none of them actually changed a product to a flexible product. Now I am curious about your Mechanism / assembly.
if you still have problem with it, I would be interested in looking into it. Can you remove IP and share it?

You also said if was a user error. Can you help us and describe what it was so maybe we can avoid it?

At the time I was working under a false impression of how the links in the kinematic black box worked. We use VPM/Enovia with Catia and I had been told I could not save dress-up's in VPM so I saved the kinematic black box into a Product on a local drive. I had not appreciated that I could not update the joints outside of the kinamatic black box but I could move parts around inside it. This broke some joints and I thought the icon was associated with that issue. However I think it was nothing to do with it as I still have the icon as per the screen shot but everything works and I have also discovered that I can save everything within VPM which is helpful.
I cannot recall the exact details but I think I just thought I had broken links and so did not actually try and run anything but concentrated on trying to rebuild the links. When I actually ran things it worked even though one constraint had an error flag and strangely enough that has also cleared since.
I have only worked with Catia on one system and I am not familiar with how Kinematics works under a normal set-up but basically I have a kinematic black box inside another black box that contains all the associated models that are dressed to the mechanism. The icon only appears within the overall black box and although I have not used flexible products I imagine from KevinDeSemt's link the functions have some commonality.

RE: Unknow Catia icon

When I worked with VPM I remember it turning all flexible assemblies (if you had any) into rigid when you saved and re-loaded the assemblies and parts back in. Perhaps this was a customization done to avoid problems such as this? All I can say is my experience with VPM is that it is a fair system...but it really does make everything more complicated.

I am pretty sure this will be handled differently by V4 VPM compared to VPM V5. For some reason it seems a lot of companies have stayed on V4 VPM (and the information systems architecture that goes with it) to save costs or whatever I don't know but it really does generate some odd functionality issues with CATIA V5.
