API 579 fitness for service, temperature for the initial step

(OP)
Hi,

I was reading through the API 579 code, in particular the crack like flaw section to try to do a level 1 assessment.

However I noticed that in some of the formulas, I need to calculate something like T-Tref+100, and then read a temperature off a graph and get a specific value. I saw that the graph would be a curve for 0 to about 150F and then above that a horizontal line.

There was no mention in the code if one could extrapolate for over 150F and then use that value (as it would be constant based on it leveling off). In the case for my exercise, my piping design temperature is around 700F, meaning that it would fall outside the chart.

Can anyone shed some light as to whether I can actually use the graph like this or if my condition is incorrect?
