Trim Matetrials for Valves and Internals of Tanks and Vessels

Trim Matetrials for Valves and Internals of Tanks and Vessels

(OP)
Stainless Steel is not recommended for Oil and Gas and also water streams with chlorides however SS316 is used for the trim of the valves since they are non-pressurized parts.

If there is a system for which Duplex or Alloy 825/625 is recommended due to high H2S mole% and Chlorides. Can we use SS316 for the trim of valves? SS316 for the tank and vessel internal parts for which body is carbon steel with some coating ?

RE: Trim Matetrials for Valves and Internals of Tanks and Vessels

I wouldn't use 316 in any high Cl application. If cracking doesn't get you then pitting will.
Coated carbon steel with galvanic protection works well for structures.
Any uncoated material should be fully corrosion resistant.
