Part Attribute Error

Part Attribute Error

Part Attribute Error

(OP)
Hello,

During the drawing creation process I am trying to run a format tool (to setup the drawing template) and I keep getting the error shown in the attached screenshot. When I go and find the Part Attribute "CONTEXT" within the component's properties it is locked and thus impossible to set to "DRAWING" as the error suggests.

Does anyone have any ideas at all?

I am using NX 9 with TC 10.

Thanks!
Jim

RE: Part Attribute Error

Not sure what tool you're using but it's looking for the attribute in your drawing file. It can't find it so it throws the error. If you're using NX8.5 and above then you should consider using the method of adding DB_DWG_TEMPLATE_ in front of the drawing attributes. So for example in the model your attribute is CONTEXT. In your drawing template create an empty attribute called DB_DWG_TEMPLATE_CONTEXT .
When you use that template in will automatically populate the value from the attribute in your model part.

Here's a video we did about attributes for drawing templates.

Thanks for the response PhoeNX. Unfortunately, it's still not working...

RE: Part Attribute Error

I'm not clear on what this "format tool" is attempting to do. From the error message, it looks like the attributed named "CONTEXT" is missing from the file. Which file? the model file or the drawing file?

Set the attribute "CONTEXT" to "DRAWING"
Does it want you to create a new attribute named "CONTEXT" and set the value to "DRAWING"? Or possibly, rename the "CONTEXT" attribute to "DRAWING"? Again, in what file? The message box is showing an "information" icon, not even a "warning" or "error" - so is this a necessary step, or just something to be aware of?

If this "CONTEXT" attribute is something necessary for your drawings, why isn't it set up in the template already?

Alas, I found the solution: you must save the drawing file before you can use this format tool. I feel foolish and relieved at the same time upsidedown
