RTD & Thermocouple Module in Westinghouse Ovation DCS

RTD & Thermocouple Module in Westinghouse Ovation DCS

RTD & Thermocouple Module in Westinghouse Ovation DCS

(OP)
We have Westinghouse Ovation DCS in a thermal power plant and require to add RTD and thermocouple Input modules. Can somebody suggest the scanners / data loggers which can be mounted in DCS panel and could be communicated wih the Ovation DCS on a serial bus. Singals of all temperature elements has to be brought to the DCS. The scanners / data loggers should have drivers for communication with the said DCS.

RE: RTD & Thermocouple Module in Westinghouse Ovation DCS

Please clarify,
- IF RTD AI module for the westinghouse ovation DCS is not available?
- If it is a thermocouple, a transmitter for 4~20mA & AI module could be added. Isn't ther AI modules available for this DCS?

In as much, I think the DCS is very old, not complying with OPC? Is it true?

RE: RTD & Thermocouple Module in Westinghouse Ovation DCS

The Ovation I/O Reference Manual (R3-1150) includes useful information such as card types (older systems) and module types (newer systems). The other manual I recommend is the Ovation Controller User Guide which covers, "Third Party Controllers". There is a list of the controllers supported and their configurations.

RE: RTD & Thermocouple Module in Westinghouse Ovation DCS

Any scanner capable of using MODBUS RTU should be able to communicate with Ovation DCS. via a serial card RS232 or RS485.
