RE: Crane Runway Beam Design for 8 wheel Crane

Have you seen the Spreadsheet on the AISC SteelTools website called MOVLOADS which does analysis of simple-span members with 1 to 8 moving wheel loads?

Jim

ps. There are several other spreadsheets for crane analysis at the same site.

MOVLOADS will help me a lot.

RE: Crane Runway Beam Design for 8 wheel Crane

I have not see the spreadsheet that jim refers to, but in the past I have taken the the 4 wheel loads and reduced the load to an equivalent 2 wheel load. I did this by adding the loads per truck and taking applying that load at the COG of the loads I combined. I believe some manufacturers use software (spreadsheets) that look at the rails in this manner.
