plant air velocity

(OP)
Hello all,
Can someone help me how to calculate the plant air velocity and flow rate, when I just have data pressure in 8.5 barg (T=40 c), ID pipe is 0.5 in sch 80, length of pipe is 16m and max. pressure drop is 4 barg.

thank you.

Regards,

Use a calculator:

What are you trying to accomplish? Do you want to know the maximum flow possible with the maximum headloss, knowing that the maximum flow rate is not an economical flow rate?

This is best done with a proper analysis as the difference in density from one end to the other makes most of the equations used for steady state flow inaccurate.

I would section this into 4m lengths and then iterate either mass flow or standard volume to end up with your overall pressure loss.

My estimate is 3.4 Nm3/hr at an end velocity of about 60 m/sec, but you need to check your dimensions, especially ID.
