k value for slab-on-grade

k value for slab-on-grade

Hi, are the k values for slab-on-grades based on 30" dia. or 12" dia. plate?

I understand that for rigid pavements, k values are based on a 30" dia. plates, but not sure if this also applies for slab-on-grades of buildings.

Thanks in advance for your help !!

RE: k value for slab-on-grade

Around here, most of the engineers whom I know, use a 30"-diameter plate, as the smaller plates give an unusably-high k-value, when used for rigid slab support.

Thanks for the information. Although this number should be used with care, it is good to know how it can be verified at the field.
