Nastran Sol 111 - How to consider material properties?

Nastran Sol 111 - How to consider material properties?

Nastran Sol 111 - How to consider material properties?

(OP)
Hello,

I realized that my dynamic model Sol 111 do not consider temperature (I´ve solved this model without any temperature instruction and the natural frequencies are the same). The card is:

.dat to create model
$-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUBCASE 1
SUBTITLE = Dynamic Analysis
SPC = 2
TEMPERATURE(Material) = 1025
METHOD = 1
FREQ = 120
DLOAD = 23
LOADSET = 1023
SDAMP = 110
$-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Temperatures are applied as nodal values:
$-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
$ Nodal Temperatures of Load Set : TTU.1025
TEMP 1025 21012 1200. 22011 600. 22021 600.
TEMP 1025 22022 600. 23011 600. 23012 600.
… long temperature list
$-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My model includes Shell, solid and 1D elements. Material records are created with TREF field considered.

When Nastran model is imported in Patran the output window reveals a warning message:
$# Warning reported from application FILE
$# The variable name could not be found for the load set named "temp.1025".

There are no values in order to be displayed using Loads/BCs > Plot Markers. I’ve tried using TEMPERATURE(BOTH)=1025 and whit this option all nodes seem to have its corresponding temperature, nevertheless the modal frequencies are the same than without consider ..bdf temperature files.

Somebody can show me how should be specified temperature for material properties?

I’m using Patran 2012 (local) and Nastran5r3 (remote server)

Thanks in advance!!

RE: Nastran Sol 111 - How to consider material properties?

Hmmm. Just enter the properties for the temperature of interest??

I´ve used temperature dependant material properties, nevertheless when I specified 20 or 600 degrees the dynamic result is the same.

My question is, Is neccesary to especify some other parameter?

RE: Nastran Sol 111 - How to consider material properties?

I'm not fully certain, but I suspect that SOL 111 doesn't support temperature loads.

I would try to do two separate Nastran runs: one with SOL 111 for the dynamic loads, and one with SOL 101 for the temperature loads. Then sum the results linearly in your postprocessor program.
