hollow core slab

hollow core slab

(OP)
Hello,

I'm just wondering how to model hollow core slab in ETABS?

Say, 400 mm thk HC with a unit weight of 5.15kN/m2.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

RE: hollow core slab

I usually model it as a shell area with its equivalent thickness. Then, i assign modifiers of 0.01 to 1 or 2 local axes to get the one way slab.

Hello chekre,

thanks for your reply, can you possibly show me the screenshot on how to assign this modifiers of ".01 to 1 or 2 local axes"
and whats behind the meaning of this values?

Regards,

RE: hollow core slab

I dont have etabs right now. Hollow core slab is a one way slab. Therefore, in order to model thr one way behaviour, u display the local axes of the area and u assign 0.01 to the direction perpendicular to the main direction of the hollow core. The use of the 0.01 is just for the slab to act in one way.
As how to apply it, u select the slab go to assign and click on property modifiers and input the values.
