Base Plates in AS 4100

Base Plates in AS 4100

Base Plates in AS 4100

(OP)
I work for a US company that is designing some equipment for Australia. Does anyone know if there is anything analogous to the AISC design guide for base plates that would conform to AS 4100? I personally think using AISC Design Guide 1 is fine but our client is insisting we use AS 4100. I don't even see where AS 4100 specifically addresses base plates. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Base Plates in AS 4100

Best to go to the online "bookshop" of the Austrslian Steel Institute (Equivalent to US AISC) and get of of there design guides:

Thanks. I guess I should have mentioned I have a fixed base plate. The Australian guide is for pinned. Still good info though, thanks again.

RE: Base Plates in AS 4100

Hi you must must be careful while deciding the base plate is fixed or pinned. None of the base plate is pinned all have some fixity . THe fixity depends on the base plate thickness and anchor bolt location and thickness.
None of the code or design basis has clearly addressed regarding base plate.
