Etabs- Shear demand for RC walls

Etabs- Shear demand for RC walls

Etabs- Shear demand for RC walls

(OP)
Hi,

Does Etabs show shear values for the RC walls. I guess it considers the wall as a stiff member and so the shear value is much lesser than anticipated under EQ case. Is there any other possible way to determine design shear force for RC walls under EQ loading. If it is possible to assume that the shear is transferred from walls to the frame members (columns) and check the shear value for the columns. Please help me with this query. I am doing a structural strengthening job in which i require shear demand and consequently should check the shear strength of the wall under EQ loading.

Help me out with this asap. Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards,
Vignesh

RE: Etabs- Shear demand for RC walls

Yes etabs calculates the shear reinforcement and shows it in the tables of shear wall design (in plane shear).
to read the values, u have to give each segment of ur shear wall a pier name, adjust the used code, and run the analysis. If u are using etabs 13, check that the shear walls are safe versus shear using identidy shear failure (u can find it in the display info of shear wall design).

RE: Etabs- Shear demand for RC walls

For the columns, u can display the shear reinforcement for 2 and 3 dirextion. Etabs will show Av/s. Pay attention to the units.
