Spring stiffness on slab foundations

Spring stiffness on slab foundations

Spring stiffness on slab foundations

(OP)
Hello,

I'm trying to simulate a slab foundation on SAP2000, but I have a question about the use of springs to simulate the behavior of the soil.
The program asks for spring stiffness per unit area. But I have my spring stiffness in m3. It’s correct to put this last value in m3? Because, if I put the values that I have, I get very high bending moment values, and I think this is due to the spring stiffness.

Thank you.

RE: Spring stiffness on slab foundations

The units are correct:
- Uniaxial spring stiffness: kN/m
- Frame spring stiffness: kN/m/m = kN/m2
- Area spring stiffness: kN/m/m2 = kN/m3

Thank you
