Hi all,

I am presently working on modification to be done on a vessel for which i needed to check the nozzle loads which requires me to model the vessel in ceasar.The vessel that i am talking about is an horizontal vessel which has one fixed support and other support is resting on 4 nos spring support .
My question is why is the equipments supported on a spring support ? what are the considerations for selecting the spring supports for an equipment as my Vendor GA drawing doesnt show any spring support in it .
Also if i would be thankful if you can guide me regarding how to model & account for this spring support in Ceasar is this in the normal modeling way that we design spring supports in ceasar ?

It's possible that the original model was using the stiffness of the vessel's support beam for the spring rate. The problem with this approach is that it ignores friction. If there aren't springs in use, I would change the support from a spring to a +Y with friction. If you need to go with springs, I would put a rigid from the centerline of the vessel down to the elevation at the base of the skirt. Next I would place rigids so the nodes line up with where the springs are. Then input the spring like normal.
