thread561-322532: "Edit work section" settings (Part section coluor)

Hello everyone,

basing on the information from the referenced thread I have the following issue:
I have a model supplied by a customer consisting out of connected bodies. These bodies have surface colors so they are easily distinguishable. However, the color of the bodies themselves appear to be the same light green that is the preset for the section surface, as this will be the color displayed even when I change the color option in the 'Create Section'-dialog to Body Color.
Now, I tried to simply change the body color with the Edit -> Object Display (which by the way already shows me the correct, desired color), but with success.

Is there anything I am missing or can I simply not edit the display of connected bodies?

RE: NX10: Change olor of section surfaces / body color

By "connected bodies" do you mean that multiple bodies have been united into one body?
If so, then the resulting body can only have a single color assigned to it. Now, each face can have its own color assigned, independent from the body color; but the section command will only use a selected color or the body color (not the face color).

Hi cowsky,

no, I think I translated it wrong...
The bodies are all created as WAVE geometry linked bodies and then exported - probably the customer is doing that to not divulge the design history of the parts. So these are basically dumb bodies, but they show the WAVE symbol in the part navigator.

RE: NX10: Change olor of section surfaces / body color

The body faces may have a different color applied than the body. Use "edit object display" to change the color of the body, in the "settings" section of the dialog turn on the option "apply to all faces of selected body". This will apply the same color to the faces as to the body. Then, in the view section command, turn on "show cap" and use the "body color" option (you might also want to turn on the "body color" option for the section curves).

This helped - actually simply, because I now looked closely enough and noticed, that I had only been specifying the "body color" option only for the section curves, not the section cap...
Thanks anyway, this made the whole color management a bit more clear to me!
