How to insert an additional support for a simply supported continuous beam in the middle?
How to insert an additional support for a simply supported continuous beam in the middle?
(OP)
Hi,
I'm learning ETABS 2015, so I'm trying out different functions. I'm trying to model a simply supported beam with an additional support in the middle of the beam. Since there is no joint in the middle of the continuous beam, I cannot seem to find a way to insert an additional support.
Any inputs will be appreciated. Thanks!
Jim

I was assuming that the beam will automatically become two separate disjointed beams, but apparently that did not happen.
Extending from this, how do I divide a continuous beam into two disjointed beams?
Thanks again!

BTW... Why do you want to divide a continuous beam into two disjointed beams?
