Weld strength calculation according to ABS

Weld strength calculation according to ABS

Weld strength calculation according to ABS

(OP)
Greetings,
Could you pleae advise, in which particular code of ABS one may find strength calculation formulas for stresses in welds ? (Not minimum dimensions scantlings, I am asking about detailes design procedure and allowable stresses).

RE: Weld strength calculation according to ABS

No, detailed welded joint design as you describe is not in the Codes. That is not the purpose of the Codes - They "only" establish the minimum criteria in any case, not the "design" for every detailed case.

RE: Weld strength calculation according to ABS

If you review ABS PART 3 HULL CONSTRUCTION AND EQUIPMENT, page 260 there are equations for determining weld fillet sizes.
