Code for Gas Pipeline Near Vertical Angle
Code for Gas Pipeline Near Vertical Angle
(OP)
Dear Colleagues, the company I`m working on was asked to build a steel gas pipeline of 20 kilometers, 12" diameter, most of the terrain is below 30 degrees of elevation but at a certain part it gets an angle of approximately 75 degrees (almost vertical!!), which code do you suggest is the best for the design, stress calculation and anchoring of this pipe??? Thanks in advance.

RE: Code for Gas Pipeline Near Vertical Angle
I would just use whatever pipeline design code you're using for the rest of the pipeline.
Frankly if this pipe is still buried - difficult to envisage at 75 degrees, but maybe - the stresses and forces just need to be niput into your stress model.
All depends on details such as length of the nearly vertical bit, profile, soil conditions etc, but you probably need to avoid anchors
Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.
