Partial Gas of 2 Different Pump Capacities

Partial Gas of 2 Different Pump Capacities

Partial Gas of 2 Different Pump Capacities

(OP)
Greetings to all:
I have a question about gas partial pressure.
A reactor chamber with 3 different gasses flowing in at constant flow rate, and the chamber pressure is kept constant at 3T with throttle valve. All these while, the chamber is pumped down with a pump of 300 CFM, now our facility wants to replace that 300 CFM pump with a 700 CFM pump. If the gases flow rate into the chamber are unchanged, the pressure is maintained at 3T by the throttle valve, do you think the partial pressure of each individual gas will be different between the 300 vs 700 CFM pump? Kindly advice. Do you think the bigger pump will leave the reactor consist mostly of smaller sized molecules? Thank you.

RE: Partial Gas of 2 Different Pump Capacities

No. Unless the supply of any individual gas is limited to less than what would be a flow volume of a similar proportional mixture at the new flowrate.

RE: Partial Gas of 2 Different Pump Capacities

These units for pressure are not familiar - what is 3 "T" - is this 3 torr?

You call these pumps, but do you mean compressor ?

What are these reactions, and are these reactions affected by reactor pressure?

How is reactor pressure controlled by this 300cfm compressor at the moment, and is the suction pressure control for this compressor maintained with the new 700cfm compressor? Show us the process controls for this and also say some more about this compressor and its speed / capacity control. How is flow control done for the feeds?

What about the heat of reaction; how is reactor temp controlled?

RE: Partial Gas of 2 Different Pump Capacities

Flowrate is the same, pressure in the vessel is the same, why would anything change?

Why are you changing the compressor?

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.
