RE: 1950's Snow Loads
I have a copy of Elwyn E. Seelye’s book, volume one. They have snow map for the US. The map was adopted from American Standards Code Requirements for Minimum Design Loads in Buildings and other Structures, A58.1-1955. The American Standards Association published this.
A word of caution on snow loads is the it is dependant on the location. Some zones were excluded from the study.
If you cannot get a copy of this map, let me know.
Good luck

On another note, I was fortunate to have several engineering books passed down to me by my father, although he was a mechanical engineer and I do more civil/structural, engineering is still engineering, and I do see the value of textbooks.
