ACI 318-14, §15.3 - Transfer of column axial force through the.... foundation
(OP)
Hi to all,
in chapter §15.3 of ACI 318-14 are present rules about the transfer of axial force of column through the floor system, when the compressive strenght of concrete are different for more than 40%. The same rules have to apply also in column to foundation joints?
Thank you in advance.

I feel that it's a bit of a different situation, mechanically, when you're transferring load to a load spreading system like a footing as opposed to passing the load to another column below. Certainly, I'd ensure that bearing worked at the column/footing interface even f'c_coulmn < 1.4 x f'c_footing.
I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

I do recall seeing an example problem where they developed the compression rebar into the footing.

I think that §15.3 chapter is not applicable to column-foundation section but I have some doubts about this problem...
