Hinged Edge in Patran

Hinged Edge in Patran

Hinged Edge in Patran

(OP)
Dear all,

can anyone tell me how to create a hinge at an edge in Patran?

I know how to create a hinge at one location in a 2D model (create 2 coincident nodes with 3 translational and 2 rotational constrained). How do I do the same for a 3D model where an edge should be a hinge?

Many thanks,
Venkata

RE: Hinged Edge in Patran

read up on CBUSH ... you can join the two pieces together combining whichever freedoms you want.

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

I have 2 plates with a common hinged edge. I have approximately 100 elements along the edge.

Should I create CBUSH connection for each node pair along the edge? How do I do this?

Cheers!
